Dear Minister Marjorie Michel,
This petition arises in response to prolonged federal inaction regarding Morgellons disease and the emergence of substantial new scientific evidence requiring review.
In 2009, the Office of the Federal Minister of Health acknowledged Morgellons disease and stated that available information was “extremely limited at this time.” Since then, peer-reviewed research has identified defined case criteria and laboratory findings, including skin fibers composed of human structural proteins such as keratin and collagen.
Public records confirm that the Public Health Agency of Canada is not formally tracking Morgellons disease and is not planning further investigative activity.
We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the Government of Canada to:
